Alyssa Casanova

I am a mother, wife, teacher, and now, a children's author. I am a New Jersey native and, subsequently, a pizza and bagel snob (nothing beats Jersey food!). I currently reside in Northern Virginia with my husband and two young daughters, who are largely the inspiration for my stories. As a teacher, I currently teach independent living and work skills as a high school transition teacher. Outside of work, I mostly spend my days trying to keep up with the little ones, savoring the quiet moments (and coffee) between the crazy, hectic, loud sounds of motherhood.

I may be new to the publishing world, but I am no stranger to children's literature. As a special education teacher, I am keenly aware of what ignites a child’s desire to read. For all of the great lessons that a good book can deliver, at the end of the day, kids just want to be entertained. As an author, I strive to create stories that will make children fall in love with reading by actively engaging them in the story. I strongly believe that a life-long love of reading starts in the home, where a bedtime story isn't just an activity, but an experience. The only lesson learned from my stories is simple: books are fun! All of my books are meant to be read aloud not to, but with the child, fostering not only a love of books, but a stronger relationship with you, the parent.
